Do you look for Christmas craft ideas every year? Try to rack your brain for some ideas for some Christmas tree crafts, or gifts to make?
This year, why not try making some recycled denim tree ornaments? These can become treasured memories and have a rustic, yet artistic flare to them. They also make great gifts for friends or Grandparents.
This is how you make them:
Find a pair of soft but worn out jeans, and trace two circles on them (the widest part of the leg works best). (using a jar lid or any size you want works)
Sew the circles together with 1/2 inch seam allowance, but leave a small space for stuffing your denim ornament.
Clip the seams every 1/4 inch or less, to make a fringe, with sharp scissors.
Make a few and then wash them and then throw them in the dryer, this will create soft white, fuzzy fringe, for that rustic effect.
Stuff your denim ornament with polyester stuffing or something soft, and then sew the opening shut, with a piece of decorative cord for hanging on the tree.
Now the fun part, decorating.
Depending on the age of your kids, get out the decorating supplies. These can be sparkles, rhinestones, embroidery, fabric paint, quilting.. ANYTHING you want. Denim makes a great canvas. Beading looks really good on here too.
If you get started with these denim ornaments now, then your kids or yourself, will have the time to really let their artistic talents shine, before all the festivities begin. I have seen these completely covered in sparkly beads, and they really shine with any Christmas lights.
You now have a cherished, rustic, piece of art. You can’t buy that at the discount store!
Denim is so versatile, especially the faded soft blue jeans. I find these work the best. Hope this inspires you to get creative with some Christmas craft ideas!

Here are some tips to help you find gifts that will give you bang for your buck this holiday shopping season as well as some fun ideas for Christmas day.
Save. It is now already November but it it not too late to start saving in anticipation of the holidays. The benefits are limitless. Number one is that it is a buyers market for anyone who has the market to spend there are numerous deals to be had if you know where to look. The second is that there is the peace of mind knowing that you can purchase gifts whenever you want with no concerns about ruining your credit or absurdly high bills in January
Another great idea is to set a budget for your kids. Most toys that are going to be popular this year will be under $100 so if you have just one or two kids this will really be to your advantage. For families setting a budget also has the great effect of aiding saving more effectively so that you not only have enough to purchase the toys you planned for but also extras such as batteries and accessories.
Instead of purchasing big ticket items, try to focus on purchasing accessories or expansion sets for toys your children already have. This is effective for kids with video games consoles or those that have name brand dolls. For video gamers buy accessories such as extra controllers or memory sticks. For the Nintendo Wii new games such as Wii resort require new motion sensor attachments for finer control. So investing in purchasing these expansion kits just makes sense. For girls with Barbies it is the dream house and the car. Trying to buy them all at once last year was probably out of the question but this year it will be the right time to do so.
Another thing to do this year is to purchase toys that can be enjoyed by the entire family. The first would be the Wii which has a lot of games that can be played by a lot of people such as Wii Sports and Wii Resort. There are also more interesting offerings that are now coming onto the market such as the Mindflex. It is a mind blowing toy that works using the players brain waves to move a ball through an obstacle course. There are also more conventional options such as boardgames. These are all things that your kids can enjoy together.
Last you can give each of your children a special letter from Santa. If you want to go for authenticity you don’t have to spend too much to do it. There are some great online services that not only allow you to design the letter but will even mail it to your home with a special North Pole postmark. This combined with other small things you can do around the house will help keep your kids believing in Santa Claus.

This winter many parents will be looking for fun activities to do with their children for Christmas. As much as presents play a role in a memorable Christmas, it is the things the family does together to celebrate the holiday that creates memories that last a life time. Most families that celebrate this year will already have a basis to start on. It could be traditions passed down from grandparents and other relatives or simply a product of the culture they come from. The recession however, brings into focus that some of these traditions and holiday activities will have to be adjusted in order to meet the economic realities of each household. Fortunately this also creates an opportunity to try new traditions and make new kinds of memories. Here are some great holiday activities that can be a part of how your family celebrates the holidays this season.
A great idea is to have you and your kids make homemade Christmas decorations. There are plenty of guides online to help you and your family make beautiful tree ornaments and holiday decorations for pennies on the dollar. The point is that the decorations will become cherished and treasured as the years go by as they will symbols of the time you spent together as a family in the days before Christmas.
Cooking holiday treats are another big part of celebrating Christmas. Try making traditional holiday recipes that you parents or grandparents made for the holiday when you were little. If you don’t know how the made them try calling them up for pointers or doing some research online. Then shop wisely for the ingredients needed. If you do it right you will save more money making them yourselves than buying them at the store.
Take advantage of the weather to have fun. If you are fortunate to have a white Christmas in your area then there are plenty of winter activities that you can partake in as part of the holiday festivities. It can be anything from sledding and skating to snowball fights and building snowmen. It does not take much to put together the gear to have a good time with your family.
Also try making Christmas Eve a game night. This is probably one of the few times when all members of your family will be home at night so take advantage of it and play your favorite games whether it is Pictionary or Clue. It will be a great time to be had by all and will cost little or nothing. The only cost will be to probably buy a newer version of an Older game. For example say you have kids who trouble handling the paper money in monopoly. You can now purchase an electronic version of the game that uses credit cards.
Another thing you can do is add a touch of holiday magic to your younger children’s Christmas experience. Normally Dad would have to wear a Santa Claus suit and the kids would be smart enough to be suspicious that Santa Claus is actually Daddy. However this Christmas there are great services that you can take advantage of that will maintain your children’s faith in Santa and give you cover from their suspicion. A great service is the letter from Santa. Your children likely send letters to Santa but never get a response back except for the presents the asked. You can now customize and order a letter from Santa that you can have your kids receive on Christmas Day. The letter is even made authentic with North Pole Postmark.
Fun Ways to Convince Your Child That Santa Exists

One of the biggest challenges for Parents this Christmas is to have their kids believe in Santa Claus. Kids now a days are more knowledgeable than in the past and more suspicious. This means that few of the old tried and true tricks can work anymore. So your husband can forget about wearing the Santa Suit. So how do you make your kids believe without implicating yourself in the process? Fortunately this year, there are a lot of services online you can take advantage of. Along with some innovative gifts and some tried and true traditions you can make the holidays magical for your kids.
The first item is a magic key. This is great for the child who lives in an apartment or home without a fireplace. You can place it in their stocking and tell them that the magic key is how Santa can slip in and out of your home. This gift on its own may not convince your child but with other things you can do it can become a powerful piece of evidence that Santa stopped by. You can also give it to them as great mementos and souvenirs.
There is a great service that will definitely convince your children and that is a call from Santa. Your kids will not be able to dispute the existence of Santa if he actually talks to them. The experience will shock the skepticism out of the more recalcitrant child as they realize that you are right there with them and you seemingly have nothing to do with the call. Make sure you answer first when the call comes. Make up your own scenario of how you will let it play out.
Another great option is a letter from Santa. The process is pretty simple and quite affordable. You go to one of the online websites that offer the letter service. You customize the letter with information about your child such as how good they were that year and what they wanted for Christmas. You can also choose different types of letters. There are letters for a sick child, a child’s first Christmas, a child who became a kindergartner, a child with a loved one that is deployed with the army, or just a letter for a child going through a hard time. You can pick the letter that best describes your child and their situation. The will definitely be convinced that Santa really does know when you are sleeping and when you are awake. You might even notice them behave better next year.
You can also purchase a Santa evidence kit. This is for the more skeptical children in your family who want solid proof that Santa Claus actually snuck into the house, left presents, and snuck out. The kit has everything you need. There is a forgotten reindeer sleigh driving license, a first place ribbon for the best decorated tree in town, Santa’s forgotten glove and glasses, and a Thank you note from Santa. You probably already ready know how to lay out the crime scene but if you are still lost the set also comes with a full set of instructions. You will have the pleasure of your children being forced to confront the evidence that Santa actually came to visit your home and they will be definitely stumped.

This holiday shopping season, many parents will be looking for the perfect toy and gifts for their children and loved ones. For younger parents with children that are still toddlers a major concern will be and should be to find age appropriate toys that will be safe their little ones. There is a reason that toys have age ranges and that is because what is a perfectly safe and normal toy for a child of 8 or older can be a danger to a two or three year old. So it is important for parents buying toys for their child’s first Christmas that they should shop with all due diligence for age appropriate and safe presents for their children. Here are some tips to help young parents know what they are looking for.
The first tip is that you should look for toys that can’t fit in your child’s mouth. Young children especially toddlers love to put things in their mouth. However this makes toys with articulated parts that can easily break off a major danger for young children. So as a young parent make sure that the toys you buy are of durable construction and are of unified structure with no small peaces that can break off. This means no action figures or small blocks or Legos. You want to avoid purchasing items that can be potential choking hazards for your child.
You should also avoid toys that have sharp or pointy edges or points. This can prove dangerous and can cause unwitting injury to a young kids especially if he or she is waving it about. This is why the majority of toys for younger children are rounded or soft. So try to look for toys that are rounded, soft, or at least not hard enough to do serious harm to your child. You will find yourself enjoying the peace of mind it brings that the toy can’t easily hurt your child.
If you are purchasing a riding toy for your toddler like a Power Wheels vehicle or tricyle make sure that you purchase proper safety gear. Of course make sure that your child will be properly supervise to avoid their being injured by the riding toy or vehicle overturning
It is also important to avoid large toys that can tip over easily. Unless it is soft and not too heavy, try to avoid big toys as they can easily fall on your young toddler and injure them. You want to find toys that are hard to knock over or will not be hard or heavy enough to cause harm to your child in case it does fall on them.
Try to look out for recalls on toys. This is important to know which toys were not properly safety tested. Every now and then manufactures will make a mistake when producing a toy whether it is failing to realize a potential safety hazard or shoddy work that can become dangerous. You can find recall list online or posted at the customer service area of your local super store. It will help you better avoid serious hazards when picking presents.
